Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to date on Vocal, exactly?

Dating on Vocal means talking in real time and getting to know your dates through voice conversation rather than pictures. Dates last for two minutes and are in a question + answer format. It’s similar to the dating in this video.

How do you start dating on Vocal?

You can choose to either start dates or join dates. If you start dates, you record a brief voice clip and select traits you look for in a partner. Once you’re ready, start a date session and your voice clip & traits will be sent out to date joiners. If you’re a date joiner, listen to a voice clip and accept or reject the date.

What happens during the date?

During the date, the “date host” chooses a question they want to ask the dates. Each date has two minutes to show their personality in a voice call to answer the question. The date host then chooses one of the participants to match with.

I joined Vocal, but I can’t go on a date!

Vocal is still a very new app, and we’re making sure the experience is an enjoyable one for all users. While we iterate and improve, the app may not have many dates available in your region. But rest assured, we are working as hard as we can to make the experience one that will make you forget all the old swipe-based dating apps.

Is my profile revealed right after matching?

Not immediately. After you’ve matched with someone, you can see their name in the matches tab on the home screen. If you press their name, you will see a “Reveal” tab where you can choose to reveal your profile. Both users need to press the reveal button before profiles are revealed. Keep in mind that you may want to do more calls before revealing!

Was the app inspired by the Netflix show “Love is Blind”?

Surprisingly no! The app was in development before the show was released, and in the idea stage for several years. The original inspiration for the app actually came from the movie Her and personal relationship experiences.

Who do I contact if I have questions about Vocal?

If you’re running into issues or want to report a bug with the app, reach out to support@sixx.co. If you’re interested in getting in touch for any other reason, such as for PR or marketing, please send a message to social@joinvocal.com.
